The Journey, The Truth
While you may have heard uplifting stories about the miraculous effects of Iboga, you might also have come across some unsettling or strange accounts of the journey’s challenges. Let’s set the record straight and focus on the truth of the experience.
Iboga initiates a profound journey that typically lasts around 12 hours overnight, followed by an extended period of light effects and insights that can continue for up to 24 hours. While some may experience bodily purging, it is not a mandatory aspect of the journey, unlike with some other plant medicines. The difficulty of the experience often depends on how you approach it—surrendering to the medicine and trusting in your providers are crucial. This is why commitment to the process is so important, even when fears arise.
During the retreat, we will focus on three essential questions:
What do you need to let go of? Whether it’s pain, bad habits, addictive behaviors, or indecision, this question will guide you in releasing what no longer serves you.
Who do you need to forgive? Most often, this involves forgiving yourself, a key step in healing and moving forward.
How do you want to live your life? This question helps you gain clarity and embrace a more positive and intentional way of living.
As Moughenda famously says, the medicine itself accounts for only 20% of your healing. The next 30% comes from understanding and applying the teachings provided during the retreat. The remaining 50% is up to you. No plant medicine can make the choice to change for you—that decision lies within your free will.
Iboga is designed to help you understand your mind like never before, to gain control over it, and to listen to your intuition by developing a deeper relationship with your soul. This process can lead to profound healing and access to your internal wisdom, setting the stage for lasting transformation that continues well beyond the retreat.
Carrying the Light of Truth
In Bweté, there are no gurus or spiritual hierarchies often seen elsewhere. Instead, the focus is on living in truth, being honest with yourself, and staying rooted in who you truly are. When you embody these principles, you are as much of a guru as anyone else. Iboga is not a magic pill; it is a guide that helps you remember who you are and how simple and beautiful life can be.
The Bweté people have only one prayer: “Thank You.” This simple yet profound expression of gratitude reflects the heart of their spiritual practice. After sitting with this medicine and completing your retreat, you’ll find that this gratitude and sense of peace feel almost magical in their depth and clarity. Living your life grounded in truth, peace, and happiness is not just a choice or responsibility; it’s how you bring about real change in the world—by first making a difference within yourself.
